FAQ
What do you mean by program?
This isn’t just an on-line video series; it’s a true
interactive distance-learning program with instructor to student support and an
entire community behind it.
How
is it possible to effectively teach someone how to defend him or herself
against an attacker without training for tactile feedback?
You're absolutely right, you do need to practice and you do
need to train with live bodies. No amount of video training alone will
replace that and it's not designed to. In fact this program is essentially a
college level distance-learning course in the application of
violence.
Like any distance learning this program requires active
participation from the student in order to get the most out of it. Just like any
real class this course requires active participation, that participation starts
with awareness and being able to then process the information. Training
without intent and purpose won't help. You need to have the training and
understanding of what you're training for and this information gives you that
ability.
Go through the videos, process the information, find local
reaction partners, interact with the TFT community on the forums, send videos
of your mat time to Tim and Chris for evaluation and feedback and you will be amazed at how much you get out of this
program. Simply watching the videos gives you the ability to see and understand
what needs to be done, that's a great first step in the right direction but
that's just the beginning of what’s possible with this program. Don't treat
this as a video-on-demand, treat this as a true interactive training
program and you'll see just how effective this training can be.
How does
the 30-Day Risk-Free Trial work?
If
you cancel your membership within 30 days of signing up by emailing us a request
to support@tftdirect.com we will
refund 100% of your initial tuition.
Seriously, why should I subscribe to Street Combat when I
either have, or I could just buy, a bunch of instructional DVDs?
Books, DVDs, and other instructional programs provide
students with a static learning experience; your learning is limited to the
fixed amount of material presented. Our On-line Integrated Training Program
provides students with a an interactive and on-going learning experience giving
them the ability to interact directly with other students and Master Instructors
such as Chris Ranck-Buhr and Tim Larkin via the blog, forums and email. Most
books and DVD's on the market today technique based, not focused on teaching
students the principles of violence and asocial conflict. Our instruction not
only gives you the tools you need to survive asocial violence but also the tools
you need in order to sharpen the one tool you always carry with you, your own
body.
The videos sessions are brought to you using the most
advanced web based video streaming capabilities available. Instructional footage
is shown from multiple angles, slow motions and on video highlights for
emphasis. Video sessions are organized and labeled in such as way as to convey
the most important principles first and build a strong foundation for both
experienced as well as novice practitioners. The goal of this program is to be
the ultimate tool for learning the tools of violence.
Can I find any of the material somewhere else?
There’s nothing quite like this anywhere else. All
instructional media is specifically designed for the On-line Integrated Training
Program and is unavailable in this format or level of detail anywhere else.
Will this program help me handle the mental aspect of
violence?
Of
course, fear and apprehension to violence is a natural reaction in social
animals, but you'll find that the more training and mat time you get, the less
that reaction impairs you. Simply put, you begin to understand what needs to get
done and if the situation occurs you have the confidence to do what’s necessary
to keep you and your loved ones safe, even if that means taking someone to
non-functional.
Does my membership allow me to download clips?
No. The instructional media is designed to work as part of
the On-line Integrated Training Program and we are continually updating, adding
and refining the sessions with new content. This is a living, growing system.
Not just video training but a true distance-learning program for the tools of
violence.
Is this all I need to get good at violence?
The On-Line Integrated Training Program provides you with
all the information, all of the resources necessary to master the tools of
violence.
That said, how far you
want to take it is up to you. Mastery requires effort,
you need responsible Reaction Partners to physically train with. We also
recommend that you use all of the resources given to you with this program,
from interacting with the community on the training forum to sending in videos
of mat sessions for review and feedback by the Master Instructors. Regular
practice with Reaction Partners will greatly increase what you get out of the
sessions.
Will this training interfere with any other martial arts or combative training that
I am involved with?
The program was designed not to replace your current
training - if it meets the criteria for handling violent
conflict
, but to enhance it. No matter what your current background is
and where you currently train our program will absolutely enhance your skill set
massively.
Who is going to be billing my credit card? How safe is it?
All payments are processed through an automated system and
your credit cards are not saved anywhere else. Payments are processed off-site
so we never have access to your payment information.
Do I need DSL or a broadband connection?
The website was designed to be as easy to use for dial up
users as well as those using a high-speed connection. Of course dial-up users
must wait longer for clips to load, but this should not affect general access to
the program and its features.
What kind of technical support can I expect?
Both the website and
online training program are monitored and maintained daily. We do not outsource
any portion of the program and all technical support is handled by us. This is
much more than an on-line video series, it’s a true
distance-learning program to give you all the tools you need to survive asocial
violence.
